IAX is the Inter-Asterisk eXchange protocol, its kind of like a stripped down Q.931 protocol and everything uses the same port which can be a blessing or a curse depending on what you want. The sample configuration is listed below:

Meanings of values
- debug - enable debugging
- port - the port to use for signalling and media
- dialplan - the dialplan format to use
- codec-prefs - comma seperated list of codecs
- codec-master - ?
- codec-rates - sample rates in 1000kHz, most other implementations do not like anything but 8kHz
